The Executive Director of Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Hon. Henry Kokofu, has revealed that members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have never been comfortable with the New Patriotic Party’s decision to maintain Chairman Wontumi as their Ashanti regional Chairman.
Henry Kokofu explained that Chairman Wontumi remains the only person in Ashanti region, the NDC fears a lot.
“NDC in Ashanti region fear Wontumi. He is their master so what sense does it make to remove him from office?” he rhetorically said.
In a one-on-one interview with Isaac Oteng on Ghana Nti political show on Movement TV, the astute politician revealed that the NDC were hoping the NPP would have presented a new candidate to lead them into the 2024 election- something he said would have had a dire consequence on the fortunes of the NPP.
He commended Chairman Wontumi for the good job he has done for the NPP in Ashanti region. The former Bantama Member of Parliament therefore called on all members of the NPP to support Chairman Wontumi. “He has started a good job and we must all support him to end well”, Hon. Kokofu said.
