Central Market Traders To Be Vacated
Traders operating behind the Kumasi Central Market would be ejected to pave the way for the contractor working on the Central Market redevelopment project to have enough space to keep its materials being transported to the construction site.
This was announced by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah after a visit to the site.
He said that 50% of the construction is so far done.
The Ashanti Regional Minister noted the main challenge currently facing the construction project is inadequate space to keep the several containers.
He told Wontumionline’s Nana Owusu Achiaw that, the contractor needs space to place as many as 500 containers and and this has made it compelling to evacuate the traders operating behind the erected fence around the already secured space.
“Very soon we would have to move them in their own interest and also in the interest of Asanteman” he said.
