Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has been cleared of all charges by an Accra High Court, bringing an end to a five-year legal battle.
The court’s decision was influenced by the prosecution’s inability to produce evidence, despite initially listing five witnesses. None of the witnesses were called to testify.
In a ruling delivered by Justice Marie-Louise Simmonds, the court held that the prosecution had failed to establish a case against Nyantakyi and his co-accused.
The case was initially sparked by an investigative exposé by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in 2018, which led to Nyantakyi’s resignation as GFA President.
