Dr. Sampson Anomah is calling on government to bring back the death penalty law to get rid of killers in our society.
Making the call on the Wontumi Morning Show, Dr. Sampson Anomah stated that bringing back the death penalty would reduce the number of killers in the Ghanaian society.
Recently, Ghana’s parliament decided to abolish the death penalty a move demonstrating the nation’s commitment to upholding human rights and strengthening the protection of the right to life.
But Dr. Anomah disagrees with the decision. According to him: “I was not happy when they repelled the death penalty law. If we have it there it puts fear in people. Over the years we haven’t been using it because no President is ready to sign…why do you want to deprive the future presidents from signing it to get rid of the wicked on earth?
My mind tells me that it should have been left intact because there are people who deliberately pick guns to rob others, kill them and sell their properties to feed on it. Are you telling us that when we get hold of them and kill them too, they don’t suffer any form of punishment?
When we kill them, we are eliminating some bad elements from the system so take a look at that. The person is just a wicked person and it is wired to an extent that only bad things are in his or her head. If they just go to prison and out of mercy a president pardons him or her and they repeat the same crime, what would you say?
So if the President can sign for us to kill those who deliberately kill others, he should sign so that we can get rid of them so that the nation can become secured.”
