BREAKING: Forest Guard Blows Own Head Off At Green Ghana
A guard with the Forestry Commission in the Kumawu area has accidentally blown his head off with his own gun.
The tragic incident happened at Kumawu- Wonoo on Friday when the national exercise to plant trees under the Green Ghana Project was underway in all parts of the country.
The victim, Benjamin
Seidu, aged 38, was travelling in a pick up truck in the company of some forestry officials to pick tree seedlings from a forest in Kumawu Wonoo area for the national programme when the bizzare incident occured.
The Assembly Man for the area, Hon Sulenana Abubakar, confirmed the sad incident which nearly marred the national exercise, to Wontumi News reporter, Davis “Amisty’ Addai,
According to him, Seidu, who was sitting at the back of the vehicle chose to rest his chin on the muzzle of the gun while at the same time, had his finger firmly on the trigger.
He said as the vehicle was nearing its destination it fell into a pot hole thus, jostling the passengers on board.
“It’s strongly suspected that Seidu’s finger which was all along on the trigger suddenly flexed to discharge a bullet following the impact of the vehicle’s fall in the pot hole.” Hon Abubakar told our reporter.
He said initially the sound of the gun shot was mistaken for a tyre burst until the other passengers disembarked to verify only to find Seidu’s blasted head. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby health facility.
Seidu, who is survived by four children has since been buried according to Muslim custom.
