Black Stars Technical Team Is Weak, Says U-20 World Cup Winner

U-20 World Cup winner, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has expressed concerns over the strength of the Black Stars technical team, stating that they are not capable of transforming players.

The former midfielder made these comments following Ghana’s failure to secure a win against Sudan in their doubleheader during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The first leg, held at the  Accra Sports Stadium, ended in a goalless draw, while the return leg, played at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya, saw Ghana suffer a 2-0 defeat.

These results have significantly dented Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the AFCON tournament, which will take place in Morocco next year.

Agyemang-Badu criticized the technical team led by Otto Addo, claiming they lack the qualities needed to develop the players.

“Considering the two matches we have played against Sudan in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, it is evident that our technical team is weak and lacks the necessary quality to transform players,” he told Oyerepa FM.

Otto Addo, the head coach, is supported by assistants Joseph Paintsil and Joseph Laumann, with Fatau Dauda serving as the goalkeeper trainer.

Ghana is currently in 3rd place in Group F and will need to regroup ahead of their final two matches against Niger and Angola next month.

To keep their AFCON hopes alive, the Black Stars must win both games and hope that Sudan drops points in their remaining fixtures.
