Beware Of Independent Parliamentary Candidates, It’s A Ploy To Deny NPP Victory – Hon Dr Nana Ayew Cautions

Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Hon Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie has urged party members to be extra vigilant as determined attempts are being made to weaken the new Patriotic Party’s (NPP) frontline.

The MP who was speaking in an exclusive interview with wontumionline.com said the grand scheme by the detractors involved is to field independent Parliamentary Candidates “as part of the detractors’ hidden agenda to derail attempts by the NPP to win the December elections hands down.

“The wish of our opponents from within and without is to demoralize our teeming supporters so that apathy would set in and in that mood, more of our supporters would find no motivation to go to the polling station to cast their votes.”Hon Dr.Nana Ayew explained.

The Parliamentary aspirant whose own backyard has also been caught in the throes of divisive schemes by political “opponents” that fuel the emergence of independent Parliamentary Candidate spoke as an authority when he dabbled in the topic.

“There is a subtle and calculated attempt to have independent Parliamentary candidates in all the constituencies in Ashanti to create confusion in our camp.” He disclosed poignantly.”

“The NPP has a focused agenda which is being spear-headed by the President himself to win the December elections. This makes it essential and irrevocable for all party members to lend their total support to each of the elected Parliamentary Candidates as the sole representative of the party .” He noted.

Hon Dr. Ayew Afriyie further stated that the President expects the NPP to secure about 90% of the total votes cast in Ashanti to guarantee an easy win for the elephant party.”

The popular NPP Parliamentary candidate reminded party members that the country’s democratic dispensation is anchored to the executive system of government which needs a strong Parliamentary representation to make the ruling party functional and more effective.

He added that it is in view of this that the NPP is keen at controlling the next legislature with an overwhelming majority to be able to effectively fulfill its agenda of total national development.

“Without a majority in Parliament, the President will largely be ineffective. That is why it’is essential that all supporters of the ruling party support one particular Parliamentary candidate elected by the Party who invariably, is the choice of the President to make our victory absolutely inevitable.

According to Dr. Nana Ayew, any party member who may be tempted to play into the hands of the NPP’s opponents by pursuing his or her own selfish interests by being is a traitor and not a genuine member of the party because ”part of the opposition’s ploy is to discourage as many people as possible from voting in Ashanti.

“Our party members should therefore disregard any such attempts to create divisions among them. “He strongly advocated.

The party has a focus and that is for all its followers to tow the line of its leaders which is to lend their total support to the candidates contesting the parliamentary election on the ticket of the party and not anybody else.

In a dramatic fashion, the Sekyere East,District on Wednesday suffered a jolt when its DCE, Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo, was shown the exit.

The Reasons for the revocation of her appointment were not stated. But from the grapevine there were speculations that her sack was linked to a recorded video in which she is allegedly heard loud and clear calling on the electorate in the area not to vote for the choice of candidacy in the Parliamentary election.

Excerpts of the recording leaked to the media reads, “We must work towards reducing his votes so that the president will know that I am not the problem but rather he is the one.

The rules of the party do not allow me to campaign for an independent candidate but as for me, I will not vote for him.”

This implies that a grand scheme orchestrated by the – DCE was hatched to deny the Parliamentary Candidate the needed votes so in the eyes of the President he would be victim,

Sekyere East forms part of the Efiduase –Asokore constituency where Hon Dr Nana Ayew is the Member of Parliament.
