A member of the New Patriotic Party’s communication team, Ralph Osei-Wusu, has challenged the National Democratic Congress to speak truth to power on the issue of benchmark value.
Mr. Osei-Wusu believes the NDC constantly ride on lies to win political power. Speaking on Wontumi TV, the NPP man stated that the explanation being given by the NDC on government’s decision to reverse the benchmark value discounts on 44 products were all lies baked from hell.
According to Ralph Osei-Wusu, unlike the NPP that formulate policies and programs to move the nation forward, same cannot be said of the NDC.
The NPP communicator noted that the reversal of the benchmark value by government would go a long way to positively impact on Ghana’s industrialization agenda adding that as a nation, “we can’t continue to import tissue papers, toothpick and cement papers”.
However, the opposition NDC has described the decision by government to reverse the benchmark value discounts on 44 products as “callous” and “insensitive” which will “stifle the already burdened businesses in the country.”
To the NDC, the reversal of the discounts on selected imported goods, effective January, 4, 2022, will cause import duties to skyrocket and thus believed it is simply a measure by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government to “punish Ghanaians for their economic mismanagement and recklessness”.
