The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has once again pledged to address Ghana’s pressing youth unemployment issue.
Speaking at a rally in Kpando, Volta Region, he reiterated his commitment to creating one million jobs if elected as the country’s next president.
Dr Bawumia outlined a comprehensive plan aimed at equipping young Ghanaians with essential digital skills to help them compete effectively in the global economy.
He stressed that his strategy does not focus solely on those with higher education but is inclusive of all youth, irrespective of their educational backgrounds.
The NPP presidential candidate noted that, the digital revolution offers vast opportunities for job creation, and by focusing on technology and innovation, Ghana can reduce its high unemployment rate.
According to Dr Bawumia, empowering the youth with the right tools and knowledge to navigate the digital economy is crucial to solving the unemployment crisis.
The NPP flagbearer emphasised that youth empowerment would remain at the heart of his policies, ensuring that young people are adequately prepared to take advantage of new opportunities in the tech-driven world.
He added that this focus on digital skills would not only create jobs but also strengthen Ghana’s economy.
“All the youth, we need jobs. I am going to give one million youths digital skills in Ghana. Everybody, even if you are a school dropout, we can give you digital skills. You will stay in Kpando and work in America, in Germany, in Japan, in the UK, and in the US. Work right from here with your digital skills” Dr. Bawumia added.
