Dr. Bawumia only went to the Supreme Court to recite “you and I were not there” and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) went on to lose the 2012 election petition case, lawyer William Kusi has claimed.
A member of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team and legal practitioner by profession, William Kusi has praised vice President Bawumia for the work he has done for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but said they are not enough grounds for him to be considered flagbearer of the party in future.
Using the 2012 election petition as his reference point, lawyer William Kusi stated that Dr. Bawumia mounted the witness box as the NPP’s star witness just to recite the words “you and I were not there”.
“The vice President has done so well but when we took him to court, he went there to recite ‘you and I were not there’- but in the end, we lost the case. He has done well because he was bold to go to court but at the end of the day, the results were negative”, he said on the Wontumi Morning Show.
During the 2012 election petition, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, mounted the witness box to provide evidence before the Supreme Court.
As Second petitioner in the case, he was led in evidence by Mr. Philip Addison, Lead Counsel for the petitioners.
Dr. Bawumia told the court that the declaration made by the second respondent, the Electoral Commission, in the 2012 elections could not be supported by the primary evidence he had gathered.
