A Youth Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Razak Abubakar, has likened Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to a “school prefect” and Hon. Alan Kyeremanten to a “class prefect”.
The Subin constituency Youth Organiser for NPP, stated on Wontumi TV that when it comes to electing the next flagbearer for the NPP, the party should settle on Vice President Bawumia and not Hon. Kyeremanten.
“So when it comes to choosing someone to lead the party, we should go for the School Prefect”, he said to emphasize his choice of settling on Vice President Bawumia.
Razak Abubakar’s position comes on the back of a call by the National Chairman for the NPP, Freddie Blay that the party is working on an Alan-Bawumia ticket for the 2024 elections.
In an interview on a Kumasi based radio station, Mr. Blay stated there are non-public conversations amongst the highest hierarchy of the get together to see how they’ll unite the duo to defeat the opposition NDC through the elections.
But reacting to the news Razak Abubakar stated that the recent regional elections held showed that delegates voted in a particular pattern to show they want Bawumia as their flagbearer.
He warned that there would be political ramification if Vice President Bawumia is made to be running mate to Hon. Alan Kyeremanten.
“There would be political ramification if Bawumia is made to settle for vice presidential slot again… The NDC have been laughing at Northerners in the NPP that we can’t rise but this is the time to prove them wrong”, he said.
