“Bawumia Didn’t Snub Us” – NPP Identifiable Groups React To Fake News On Media Platforms
Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) identifiable groups in the Ashanti Region have rubbished the content of a video making rounds on various social media platforms that creates the impression that, the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia “snubbed them when they tried to meet him at the Jubilee House.”
The groups said that, “to the contrary, the Vice President gave us a rousing welcome and assured us that, we would hear from him apart from advising us to work hard for the NPP to retain power in the 2024 elections.”
Speaking with Nana Owusu Achiaw, the Chairperson of the ‘Asanteman Nkosuo’- NPP Mpuntuo’ and the founder of Nana Pepeye, Dr. Mohammed Issah Ababio, explained that, the group recently visited Dr. Bawumia but because the Veep had a meeting to attend he delegated one Alhaji Sumaila to meet the group’s leaders.
According to him, the information from the Vice President wasn’t relayed to the members on time so the lapse created some sort of misunderstanding and “an unknown journalist filmed the incident and diabolically spread it across the various social media platforms.”
Dr Issah Ababio extolled Dr. Bawumia’s humility, selflessness and other virtues emphasizing that, “it is the first in the country’s history that a Vice President has shown so much love and dedication in addressing the concerns of those at the grassroots.”
“The Vice President gives us a warm reception anytime we encounter him.” He noted.”
The prominent grassroots member of the NPP shed light on the mission of his group to the residence of Dr. Bawumia which has generated the controversy.
“Our motive of going to the Jubilee House was to seek his intervention in petitioning the President on our behalf of being denied our fair share of the victory cake since 2012.” He disclosed.
He explained further, “We opted for his intervention because we trust Dr. Bawumia for his affability and the total commitment he shows to all endeavours that are is in the best interest of the NPP.”
