Ayawaso North MCE Assures Voters Of Improved Security Ahead Of Monday’s Elections
The Chief Executive of Ayawaso North Municipality, Hon Aminu Zakari, has called on voters to have confidence in the law enforcement agencies because a lot has been done towards the protection of lives and property.
He said a special election task force has been put in place to be directly in-charge of security in the election period.
“The task force comprising all the security agencies were put together by the DISEC to provide security before, during and after the elections.” He said.
Hon Zakari who was speaking on Wontumi TV/Radio’s Election 2020 programme on Tuesday said the successful conduct of the special voting exercise on Tuesday is a precursor of how peaceful the main election on Monday is going to be.
Hon Zakari said his administration has been very concerned about the general security situation in the Municipality and recently supervised the construction of a police post at Mamobi.
“The construction of the police post has stemmed the tide of the rising crime rate in the Mamobi area.”He pointed out.
According to Hon. Zakari the security for the students of Accra Girls Senior High School has been given a big boost with the erection of an 800 metre fence wall around the school which is located at Mamobi East.
He said the wire fencing around the school will also check encroachment of the school’s lands by unauthorized developers and the incidence of students fleeing the school compound at odd hours.
The street light situation has also been improved currently with the installation of 450 led street lights and maintenance of existing ones.
Hon. Zakari also announced that the Assembly has trained a group of market women on health hazards caused by food adulteration to ensure good nutritional health for residents.
