President Mahama’s government has been saddled with tons of bad press and has decided to go catch some fresh air by going after Akonta Mining Company Limited by planting “false” galamsey stories on them, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has said.
The Chief Executive Officer for Akonta Mines was addressing a decision by government through the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Armah Kofi Buah, to revoke his mining lease over alleged breaches.
“all that the minister is saying is not true. If you mean business, we challenge you to declare a state of emergency on all forms of mining for six (6) months for Ghanaians to know which set of miners are working. Ghanaians will know if it is the NPP working and you want to prosecute us or it is the NDC. We challenge you”, he said.
Speaking directly to Wontumionline.com, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi stated that the current government is trying to salvage some point after being badly hit with cocaine and money laundering issues.
To do this, Chairman Wontumi claimed that he has been targeted by the government of President Mahama to be given a bad name.
“Your strategy looks like you are trying to cover up for the prices of cement that has shot up from GHC 80 to GHC 130. It is also looks like the utility tariffs that you have increased by 15%, you want to cover it up”, he pointed out.
He added that the allegation on his company also looks like the government of Mahama has suffered from the happenings in Bawku and wants to divert attention.
“It is also looking like you are trying to cover up for the war in Bawku that has resulted in deaths of police and military officers”, he added.
The recent allegation by Rev Ntim Fordjour that a plan carrying cocaine had landed in Ghana according to Chairman Wontumi is also a factor driving the government of President Mahama to target his company
“It is also looking like the allegation by Rev Ntim Fordjour that a plane carried cocaine into the country together with the money laundering operations is haunting you and you want to cover it up”, he said.
