The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has asked the people of Assin North to vote for a candidate who would bring developmental projects to them and not someone who is thinking about running the affairs of the constituency from prison.
In an appeal made by President Akufo-Addo at the NPP Final Rally at Assin Breku, he stated that “I have heard that the gentleman (Gyekye Quayson) is saying that even if he is in prison, you’d still vote for him. Is that the reason why we should vote for you? That go to prison? We are looking for someone who would be in Parliament to lobby for developmental projects for you. And who can best do this work, who can best do this work, the one without any blemish? Here he is, Charles Opoku.”

If we are being truthful, from now till January 7, 2025, it is the NPP administration that would be in power. So Assin electorate, if you are sending someone into government, send someone who would be part of the NPP, that’s what will be beneficial to you. Send someone who can work with me. As we are coming to vote, some are saying they are men (macho) so whatever happens should happen. Do they think about you? We need someone who will come and serve you and not the one to disturb you so much so that Assin North would always bring the news for the wrong reasons. That’s not what is needed. We need someone who is coming to work. If you are in prison, how can you come and work? I am asking you, if you are in prison, what work can you come and do? What work can you do from a prison? If he cares about you, he wouldn’t have presented himself for this election. It has happened so because that’s the wish of the NDC.
