Asokwa MCE, Others Commit To Peaceful Elections In December

The Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa (MCE), Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah has assured the public that he would ensure the municipality becomes peaceful before, during and after the December 7 elections.

Speaking at the launch of “Agent of Peace”, a peace initiative program by the Church of Pentecost at the Mckeown Temple in Asokwa, the MCE said as head of the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) he would do all that it requires to maintain the peace in the municipality.

He noted that the electoral process in Ghana does not warrant any acts that would endanger the lives of people in the country.

Mr Akwannuasah therefore urged all stakeholders including the Church to lead in efforts that would ensure the maintenance of Peace and safety in the country, especially in the Asokwa Municipality before, during and after the December elections.

“Each of us starting with me as Municipal Head of Asokwa should be agents of Peace so that together we can maintain the peace we are enjoying in the country and in Asokwa in particular”, Chief Akwannuasah urged.

CHAIRMAN OF PENTECOST:
Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church Of Pentecost (COP) addressing participants and heads of institutions in a video said the country needed peace to ensure the progress of its people.

Election, he noted was only a means to help people make a choice about whose or which party’s vision they think could best aid the progress and prosperity of the country.

He pleaded with the public to preach peace and abide by same wherever they are before, during and after the December 7 polls.

Apostle Nyamekye charged the Church to lead in the peace campaign since the Church was set up to be agents and the protector of Peace in nations.

OTHERS:
On his part, Benjamin Bano-Bio, Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC) pledged the commitment of his outfit to deliver a transparent and credible election on December 7.

He however admitted that the processes that leads up to election day was participatory, adding that all stakeholders are to play their part to make it peaceful and a smooth one.

Mr Raphael Arthur Wilson, Ashanti Regional Director for the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) noted the importance of ensuring peace before and after the 2020 polls.

He said best decisions are taken in peaceful atmospheres, adding that the populace could only make best choices during election when they are enabled to do so in an atmosphere of Peace.
