The General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has been accused by Kwame Baffoe Abronye of receiving heavy bribe from James Gyakye Quayson, to field him as the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate in 2020.
The Bono Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) openly stated on Wontumi TV that the bribe Asiedu Nketia received, made him force James Gyakye Quayson on the NDC knowing very well that he isn’t a Ghanaian national.
Just recently, a Cape Coast High Court canceled results of the parliamentary elections in the Assin North constituency for the 2020 elections.
The High Court Judge, Justice Kwasi Boakye, ordered for fresh elections to be conducted in the constituency where James Gyakye Quayson won as MP in 2020.
It would be recalled that a parliamentary election petition was filed at the Cape Coast High Court that sought to annul the declaration of Mr. James Gyakye Quayson as the Member of Parliament (MP) elect for the Assin North Constituency.
Michael Ankomah -Nimfa of Assin Bereku, filed the petition and served the Electoral Commission (EC) as the second respondent.
Also in November last year, a group calling itself ‘Concerned Citizens of Assin North’ petitioned the EC in the Central Region to withdraw the candidature of Mr. Quayson as he owes allegiance to Canada.
