Asamoah Gyan Criticises Fatawu Issahaku’s Late Introduction In Ghana’s Defeat To Morocco
Ghana’s all time top scorer, Asamoah Gyan on his AFCON punditry duty on SuperSport, has criticised the late substitution of Fatawu Issahaku after defeat against Morocco, and added the Black Stars lacked urgency.
The Atlas Lions- propelled by Soufiane Boufal’s late goal, stunned Ghana by 1-0 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in a tough Group C opener last Monday.
Speaking on the giant African broadcasters , the former Black Stars skipper states the team lacked urgency upfront and also fumed at the late introduction of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku who was brought on for Joseph Paintsil on the 86th minute. He said;
“There was no urgency from the Black Stars. We wanted to catch the Moroccans on counterattack. I was expecting Issahaku to come on but it was late and it affected us. In games like this, you need to take your chances and win the game.”
“If you create the chances and fail to convert them, the fans will not be happy.” He added
The Black Stars will have to redeem themselves with nothing but a victory when they face Gabon on Friday on January 14, 2022.
