Socrate Safo, a Ghanaian filmmaker, is calling for the arrest of the founder and presiding Archbishop of the Action Chapel International Ministry, Nicholas Duncan-Williams, for openly admitting that he committed crimes such as armed robbery before his repentance.
Socrate Safo, while reacting to the arrest of Nana Poku Piesie, a radio presenter with Kumasi-based Sompa FM who was seen in a viral video claiming to have had sexual intercourse with a minor, argued that if the presenter was arrested for confessing his past crimes, then the archbishop should equally be arrested for his past crimes of armed robberies.
The filmmaker mentioned that Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams has been heard confessing that he had been involved in a series of robberies before his call to Christ, and as such, it would be fair if he were also arrested.
“Based on the basis for the arrest of the presenter, I think it is understandable if someone advocates for the arrest of Nicholas Duncan Williams, and the person shouldn’t be considered wrong.
“This is because the presenter has been arrested for past crimes, and I have also heard that Duncan Williams said he used to be an armed robber and a lot of people have said they heard him say that, and many other bad things he did before his call to serve Jesus Christ.
Then we can stand on his confession to arrest him for his past crimes. If he is not arrested, then we have not been fair to the presenter. They have all confessed to crimes they committed in the past, why should one be arrested and the other left free?” Socrate Safo said in an interview on Peace FM.
In a viral social media video, the presenter, speaking on air, shared a story about how he engaged in a sexual relationship with a girl from the age of 14.
“I started having sex with a girl at the age of 14… Her father was a rich man in Dormaa Ahenkro, she had a body, and I had sex with her from class six until she completed Kumasi Academy,” he stated.
The confession by the presenter was roundly condemned by a section of the public on social media, with some celebrities calling for his arrest.
This eventually led to his arrest on July 16, 2024
