Arise Ghana Demo: Why Is Former President Mahama Silent On The Attack On The Police?- George Kwarteng Asks

A communication team member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Kwarteng, has expressed shock over the loud silence of former President John Dramani Mahama on the attack meted out to the police in their line of duty by protestors of the Arise Ghana Demonstration.

Speaking to Kwkau Dawuro on the aftermath of the demonstration on Movement In The Morning Show on Wontumi Radio/ Movement TV he asked, ”is former President Mahama trying to say he hasn’t heard about what the police went through in the hands of protestors of the Arise Ghana Demo? He would have been quick to react on twitter, had the narrative been vice-versa,” he added.

“Is the Ghana Bar Association still in this country, how about the loud Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), are they also in this country and have they seen what happened during the violent demonstration? Why are they yet to condemn the act?”, he fumed.

He added that Mahama must condemn this act in no uncertain terms, just like he’s been doing.

This comes after protestors clashed with the police after they refused to use the designated routes provided by the court. The peaceful demonstration turned chaotic as demonstrators pelted stones at the police.
