‘Angry’ Kojo Addae-Mensah Slams ‘Poor’ Otto Addo After Black Stars Draw With Niger

Chief Executive Officer of Databank Group, Kojo Addae-Mensah has slammed Black Stars coach, Otto Addo for the poor performance of the team against Niger.

After losing 1-0 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier opener against the Palancras Negras of Angola last week Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Baba Yara Stadium, the Black Stars were hoping to record their first win of the qualifiers against the Nigeriens.

Ghana took the lead through Alid Seidu’s deflected shot in the 44th minute to end the first half 1-0.

However, the Super Eagles found the back of the net in the 80th minute through Oumar Sako to end the game 1-1 at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.

Reacting to the performance of the Black Stars, angry Addae-Mensah slammed Otto Addo for his game plan and cautioned him to improve his performance.

“It was a poor and lethargic performance from the Black Stars against Niger and it is disappointing,” he told GTV Sports Plus.

“Of course, I was part of the search team for the Black Stars coaching job and when he appeared, he was the best. In the corporate world, we don’t always get our search but he has been poor and someone will say it is too early to call for his sack.

“Already, Otto Addo has become the first coach to lose at the Baba Yara Stadium. We have been qualifying for the AFCON back to back but this performance against Niger was poor and disappointing,” he added.

Kojo Addae-Mensah was part of the search committee that recommended the reappointment of Otto Addo to the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Black Stars, who now sit 3rd in Group F will hope to secure their first win of the qualifiers when they face Sudan in a doubleheader in October in the matchday three and four games.
