Power drunkeness and greed is what drives former President John Mahama and detained Guinean President, Alpha Condé, Nana Obiri Boahen has pointed out.
The deputy General Secretary for the New Patriotic Patriotic (NPP) claims the bad spirit that influenced Alpha Condé to seek a third term is the same spirit driving John Mahama in Ghana.
Nana Obiri Boahen in an interview on Wontumi TV stated that “Alpha Condé’s spirit is in Mahama.”
Conde was re-elected for a second term in 2015. But he became increasingly disliked when he pushed through a constitutional referendum, backed by Russia.
Despite winning a controversial third term in October 2020 polls, he was overthrown by the military.
According to Nana Obiri Boahen, Alpha Condé knew this was bound to happen but out of greed, he pursued this agenda.
He therefore likened John Mahama to disgraced Guinean President stating that John Mahama has been “vice President and President and he wants to contest again.”
