Akufo-Addo’s ‘Promised Land’ for Ghana Delayed by COVID-19, Russia-Ukraine War- Chairman Wontumi

The Ashanti regional Chairman for NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako has stated that President Akufo-Addo’s vision for Ghana’s progress was well underway, but the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war have posed significant challenges to his administration.

Speaking exclusively to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV, Chairman Wontumi expressed that Akufo-Addo should have led Ghana to the “promised land” by now, but for these unforeseen global crises.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on Ghana’s economy, with inflation rates soaring to unprecedented levels. The Russia-Ukraine war has further exacerbated the situation, causing global food prices and fuel costs to skyrocket. This has resulted in widespread hardship for many Ghanaians, particularly the urban poor.

He noted that despite these challenges, President Akufo-Addo remains committed to his vision for Ghana’s development. His government has implemented various initiatives aimed at mitigating the effects of the pandemic and the war.

Chairman Wontumi’s statement also highlights the importance of continuity in leadership. He likened Akufo-Addo to Moses, leading Ghana to the promised land, and Dr. Bawumia as Joshua, poised to take over and complete the task. This analogy underscores the significance of Akufo-Addo’s legacy and the need for sustained progress under Dr. Bawumia’s potential leadership.
