Military takeovers of democratically elected governments in the West African sub-region, has gotten the Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, urging Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, to quickly address the economic hardship his citizens are going through to prevent a similar fate.
According to Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, nobody wishes for military intervention, however, the government should not sit unconcerned with the present situation the sub-region is going through.
“The present economic situation in Ghana is nothing to write home about, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led NPP Government should soften the grounds to relieve Ghanaians from the economic crisis they are going through, times are hard,” he stated.
Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, said this during his annual purification of the Black Stool (Eguantodo) festival at Gomoa Ajumako in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region last Tuesday.
“In this democratic era, nobody, especially Nananom who are custodians of our land, wished for any military takeover of the democratically elected government to disturb our peace and stability. We passed those dark days in history, however I want to urge President Akufo-Addo to put in place flexible economic policies to cushion Ghanaians”.
Lamentation over the present economic hardship is bringing more unbearable pain to the citizenry, he observed.
“Reduction of various taxes and fees coupled with transparency and proper accountability will bring back the confidence Ghanaians had in him before he was elected as President in 2017,” he stated.
Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, again suggested to President Akufo-Addo to consider reshuffling his non-performing ministers to bring in fresh ideas to address the hardship in the country.
On the relationship between chiefs and their subjects in the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, asked the chiefs to operate an open-door administration devoid of discrimination, adding that there should be fairness in the way they handle cases brought before them in their Communities.
He reminded Nananom about their core mandate as traditional leaders within the jurisdiction of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area.
“Our core mandate as Nananom is to ensure the well-being of our people in the areas of education, health, economic growth and development, security and others to make life meaningful to our subjects.
“There should be peace and social cohesion in our various communities thus bringing everybody on board. There should be equal rights and justice for all irrespective of gender, religion or tribe to enhance coexistence”.
“Let eschew chieftaincy related disputes between our ranks and file. There should be absolute peace in Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area. We have been tagged as an epitome of peace and stability so let us strive to maintain this envious position worthy of emulation by our neighbours. Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area is second to none when it comes to cordial relationships with each other.
“I wish petty petty cases were settled at our divisional and local level before referring the sensitive one to Omanhene’s palace. We should build up confidence in our people to have faith in us. I hope everything goes smoothly under our leadership. As Traditional Leaders, let’s make our palace more attractive to be the hub of peace in our communities,” he stressed.
Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, emphasised the deplorable nature of roads under the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area describing it as an eyesore.
“I have spoken about the state of our roads, especially from Gomoa Ankamu to Gomoa Dawurampong. Do we deserve this kind of punishment? Where do we go wrong?” Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI quizzes.
