Akufo-Addo Commissions 120 Bed Bekwai Municipal Hospital
President Nana Akufo-Addo has commissioned a 120 bed Bekwai Municipal Hospital.
He said, ‘today is a joyous day for the residents of Bekwai because the hospital project that started under the Ignatius Kutu Acheampong regime has finally been brought to commission four decades later by the government of Nana Akufo-Addo.’
Speaking at the ceremony monitored by wontumionline.com, he said that the project is an evidence of government’s commitment to continue with the complete successfull major Infrastructural projects that were inherited from previous governments.
He noted that when work on the Hospital project stopped due to lack of funds, government through the “dynamic hardworking” Health Minister, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, successfully negotiated for funding from UK Export Finance for the completion of the project.
According to President Akufo-Addo the hospital has been constructed at a cost of £32,0313m that has all the modern hospital facilities.
“Government is committed to improve the access to essential and quality Health Service through the procreation of the necessary health infrastructure equipment and logistics.” he said.
President Akufo-Addo told the hospital administrators that the edifice has been put up with a great cost to the nation so it should be in good condition ten years down the line.
The President of the Republic commended the Ghana Health Service and the Minister of Health for the frantic effort they put up for the completion of the facility.
He said, they should continue to sustain the country’s agenda of building a robust, resilience and sustainable health care system for current and future generations.
