Senior broadcast journalist, Ernest Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Adakabre, has explained that the late Founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor, was diagnosed of respiratory issues at the Nsawam Hospital.
He added that she was referred to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital), where she died.
He made this known in an interview on TV3 NewDay on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, and monitored by GhanaWeb.
Adakabre, who was Akua Donkor’s running mate in the 2020 election, added that she died after 10 PM on Monday, October 28, 2024.
The news of the passing of Akua Donkor flooded social media in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with many netizens sharing their sympathies with her family.
She was 83 years old.
Akua Donkor was number 3 on the ballot paper for the 2024 elections and was actively preparing for the anticipated elections, with nearly 39 days left.
She had promised free vehicles for journalists, duty-free port services for the clearance of goods, free education, proper remuneration for farmers, and other policies she aimed to implement should she win the 2024 elections.
