Afigya Kwabre North Assembly Thrills Residents With Marathon Race (PICTURES)
The Afigya Kwabre North District Assembly in collaboration with Fish FM, have entertained residents this Christmas with a marathon race.
Three zones namely; Tetrem, Denasi and Namong competed for the ultimate trophy and a cash prize of Ghc15,000.
The event was proudly sponsored by National Security Minister, Hon. Albert Ken Dapaah, GNPC Boss, Dr K.K Sarpong, Ghana Cocobod, Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) and many more.
Speaking with wontumiononline’s Nana Owusu Achiaw, the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah said he was astonished to witness such a massive event.
According to him, the Assembly organized the competition to espouse the residents and to also utilize it as exercise saying it will be done annually.
Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah commended the local-based Fish FM for its contribution.
The MP for the area appealed to the youth to desist from social vices and betrothal in drug abuse.
Adding his voice, the District Chief Executive for the area, Hon. Karikari Akyeamfuo affirmed that he was equally overwhelmed to witness such an event adding that participation was huge.
He averred that the program success will boost his vision of creating a community cones team.
Hon. Karikari Akyeamfuo commended all and sundry, especially Hon. Albert Ken Dapaah for his contribution to the event.
He appealed to the winners of the competition to invest with the cash prizes and not to spend them haphazardly.
The overall best winner, William Amponsah who grabbed the Ghc15,000 could not hide his happiness.
He expressed grateful to God for letting him emerge as the overall best winner and lauded the organizers for the competition.
