The management of Accra High School has confirmed the receipt of over 2,400 tablets from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES).
This effort is part of the government’s ‘One-Student-One-Tablet’ policy, aimed at equipping all Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide with digital learning systems, content, and electronic devices.
During the school’s 101st Founder’s Day anniversary, Headmistress, Evelyn Nabia addressed recent reports claiming the school had not received the promised tablets.
She clarified that the devices are currently in storage and will be distributed next year after teachers undergo training on the learning modules included on the tablets.
“Starting next year, all students at Accra High School will be learning with tablets. The devices are safely stored in our warehouses, and I want to state clearly that reports suggesting we haven’t received them are false. The distribution delay is due to the necessary training that teachers must complete to guide students effectively,” she explained.
The anniversary celebration was attended by the school’s alumni, known as Onukpa [Onukpai], and other dignitaries.
The event also saw participation from current students, as well as headmasters and headmistresses from other Senior High Schools.
