Entertainment critic Nana Frimpong Ziega has indicated that statements made by Shatta Wale and Kwaw Kese during the Gomoa Easter Festival about socialite Abu Trica facing extradition for alleged fraud could complicate matters for him.
During both artistes’ stage performances at the just-ended Gomoa Easter Festival on April 6, 2026, the musicians paused to appeal to authorities to free Abu Trica.
According to them, the lack of job opportunities in Ghana is pushing many young people to find alternative means of survival.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Nana Frimpong Ziega said these statements from the musicians would complicate Abu Trica’s case, adding that Abu will avoid extradition to the United States to face the charges only if a miracle happens or there is serious intervention.
“They will extradite Abu Trica because of what Shatta Wale and Kwaw Kese did, unless there is a miracle or some serious intervention,” he said.
Nana Frimpong Ziega further noted that, as celebrities, they should instead have used the platform to educate the youth to stay away from fraud, rather than inciting them against the court and government.
“As a celebrity, when you get a platform like that mammoth gathering, you should use it to educate the youth to stay away from drugs and fraud. Saying that would not give them the upper hand to extradite Abu Trica.
“They should also stop inciting people against the court and stop influencing the youth against the government,” he noted.
The Gbese District Court has granted Abu Trica (Frederick Kumi) a 15-day window from March 27, 2026, to appeal a ruling authorising his extradition to the United States over an alleged $8 million online romance scam.
He is accused of leading a scheme targeting elderly Americans, reportedly using artificial intelligence to create false identities and defraud victims of over $8 million.
