About five players will leave Arsenal this season – Arteta reveals

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has admitted that “four or five players” will leave the club this summer.

Arteta, speaking after a 1-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday, promised a big summer of transfers.

The players would include Jorginho, who is joining Flamengo in Brazil, and Kieran Tierney who is Celtic-bound.

Loanees Neto and Raheem Sterling are also set to return to Bournemouth and Chelsea.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has barely featured for Arsenal, is also expected to depart, too.

Arteta said: “Obviously we need players because the squad is really short, and on top of that we are losing four or five players that are going to end contracts, and their loans are finished.

“So, we need to be sharp. Again, very disciplined in what we want to do, and make sure that we are strong in the next season.”

When asked how big the summer ahead is, Arteta replied: “Finish the season, go to the beach and make sure the ones upstairs (hierarchy) do what they need to do.”
