A United NPP Is Good For Ghana – Rt Rev Nyarko-Andam
A former Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Rt Rev Christopher Nyarko-Andam, has strongly urged the New Patriotic Party,(NPP) to strengthen its united front for the members to meet their expectations.
“Unity is divine because God Himself welcomes it as an essential ingredient that drives efforts to guarantee an environment of peaceful human co-existence.
He noted that Ghanaians as a whole can have the desired blueprints of development they deserve if the ruling party can occupy the high ground of a closely-knit party without fragments.
Rt Tev Nyarko Andam who is currently the Minister in charge of the Mt.Olivet Society of the Methodist Church of Ghana at Dansomabn in Accra was delivering a sermon at the NPP’s National delegates Conference in Kumasi on Sunday
He emphasized that his call for unity in the NPP should impliedly be considered as a general appeal to the other political parties for them to also remain resolute and stay united.
“This’s because all that Ghanaians are yearning for is a united country whose people have a common destiny.” He stressed.
The Methodist cleric called on the NPP to quickly diffuse any tension arising out of issues that create anxiety among its rank and file.
“The internal mechanism should quickly be applied in resolving all such issues that threaten its unity so they don’t get space to thrive with IRS consequential effect of breaking up the party.
Rt Rev Nyarko Andam noted that “what can spell the doom of the NPP is to allow factions to emerge because any sign of its members showing allegiance based on the faction one belongs instead of throwing one’s weight behind the party’s towering structure will not be good for Ghana’s democracy.
He added that great lessons can be drawn from an embarrassing score line of 6 – 1 that Ghana suffered at the hands of Germany during international friendly ay Bochum some years back.
.He recalled that “After taking a somewhat comfortable-nil nil lead in the first half Ghana succumbed to the Germans in the second half because of disunity that invaded the Black Stars camp during recess. He recalled with bitterness
“This is a lesson for the NPP and to surmise it all I can say is that a party with members dividend based on allegiances to opposing factions or camps takes away the opportunity to this thus, finding one self in the doldrums.”Rt Rev Nyarko-Andam emphasized.
