A/R: Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah Inspects Kumasi International Airport, Other Projects

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei- Mensah has inspected ongoing work on the construction of the Kumasi International Airport and some other projects in the Region.

These included the Anwiankwanta- Obuasi stretch, Sokoban- Ampabame road, Ahodwo- Trede road, Racecourse Market and Redevelopment of the Central Market Phase 2.

Speaking with wontumionline.com after the inspection, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah indicated that he is highly impressed with the work done so far especially the road constructions.

He noted that when the Akufo-Addo government captured power in 2016, it noticed the major concern of the citizens is a poor road network.

According to him, the government has since prioritized
road construction.

Hon Simon Osei- Mensah said the road constructions are progressing steadily except for the Ahodwo- Trede stretch which the government has to compensate the residents and the landlords so they evacuate for work to resume.

The Regional Minister added that government has to also engage the chiefs in the area to perform a customary rite to relocate a god from the site.

“For about 2-3 months the construction of the Kokobeng- Anwiankwanta road has been massive. We are hoping nothing will be an obstacle for the contractor to finish within the stipulated time,”

On the other hand, the Director of Airports Planning and Project, Yaw Appiah Dankwa told the Regional Minister that the Kumasi International Airport project is 80% complete and will be completed in October 2022.
