A/R: Bosomtwe To Enjoy Improved Security As Abono Gets Police Station At Long Last
One of the towns in the Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Abono where Ghana’s natural lake, Bosumtwi, is located has been provided a Police station for the first time in its history to protect the picturesque national resource and the residents.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah in an exclusive interview with Nana Owusu Achiaw during the commissioning of the Police Station said that, the status of Abono requires that it is provided a Police station since it is a tourist site.
He said that, during holidays and other festive occasions, revelers swarm the area in their numbers to entertain and enjoy themselves.
“It is a serious disincentive and unfortunate if you have such a strategic tourist facility and you don’t have a Police station to provide adequate security.”
He called on the residents to assist the Police to perform their duty by reporting those who may break the law.
He also urged the Police to also protect any person or persons who may provide them with information or report offenders to them so nobody can harm them.
Hon. Osei Mensah indicated that the Police ought to officially start work at Abono immediately after the commissioning on Tuesday.
The Ashanti Regional Minister commended the DCE for the area, Hon. Lawyer Joseph Kwasi Asuming, for using the common fund allocation to build such a magnificent edifice which contains police quarters in addition with water closets toilet facility which would serve as place of convenience for tourists.
He again thanked the Chief of the area who is also the father of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako for providing a land for the Police station.
Chipping in, Hon. Lawyer Asuming noted that, residents and tourists will now feel more secured when visiting Abono.
“With the Police visibility, no one can come without regard infringe on the rights of others .” He said
According to him, what is very vital in life is the individual security and that the most nightmarish life experience is to be attacked by armed robbers.
Hon. Lawyer Asuming however, emphasized that, security is a collective responsibility and for that matter, the residents should furnish the Police with the needed information to fight crime in the area.
“Our aim is to prevent crime before it happens but the recalcitrant ones are warned that if the try to take the law into their own hands and caught in the act they would regret their actions.” The DCE cautioned.
