I’m An Arsenal Fan, But Partey Should Move On And Make Good Money’ – Gabby Otchere-Darko
Renowned Ghanaian lawyer Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has urged Thomas Partey to consider leaving Arsenal this summer in pursuit of a financially rewarding move as his contract nears expiration.
Speaking in an interview with Asaase Radio, Otchere-Darko, a known Arsenal fan, made a passionate case for Partey to prioritise his long-term welfare over sentiment.
“I’m an Arsenal fan, but I advise Thomas Partey to move elsewhere and make some good money for his pension years,” he said.
His comments come at a pivotal time for the 31-year-old Ghanaian midfielder, whose current deal with the Gunners ends on June 30, 2025.
Despite Partey’s increased availability and consistent performances last season, his future in North London remains uncertain, with contract extension talks still ongoing.
Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atlético Madrid in a €50 million deal and has since played a key role in midfield when fit.
Injuries have intermittently disrupted his time in the Premier League, but in the just-ended season, he managed 52 appearances across all competitions, his highest tally in an Arsenal shirt, scoring four goals and assisting three.
While the Gunners included Partey in a list of players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the month, they confirmed on their official website that discussions are ongoing regarding a potential renewal.
Still, Gabby Otchere-Darko’s comments reflect a growing sentiment among some fans and observers who believe Partey could capitalise on interest from abroad, particularly in leagues like Saudi Arabia or Qatar, where lucrative final contracts are common for players in their 30s.
Partey has remained tight-lipped about his next move, stating recently that he has left the decision to his representatives and is focused on enjoying his football.
