Lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi, has revealed that he isn’t aware of any offer from Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to satisfy the bail condition of Chairman Wontumi.
The seasoned lawyer cum politician stated in an interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV that the real person, satisfying the bail condition of the Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has decided to remain anonymous.
“Certain people don’t want their names mentioned when they do certain things. The person hasn’t given me permission to mention his name to the public”, he said as he offered clarity on the bail terms.
He was however quick to commend Hon Kennedy Agyapong for stepping in to help Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi meet his bail condition but maintained that Chairman Wontumi’s condition was being met by an unnamed person.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating Chairman Wontumi in connection with financial transactions involving the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank.
Chairman Wontumi was granted GH₵50 million bail on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with two sureties required to support the amount.
