Okay FM Investigations Reveal Chairman Wontumi Treated Unfairly By NDC Over Cocoa Road Project

A recent revelation by Okay FM’s morning show host of Ade Akye Abia, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, has indicated that the NDC’s treatment of Chairman Wontumi with regards to certain funds he received for a cocoa road project, is totally unfair.

Investigations by the Okay FM team indicate that it took Chairman Wontumi three years, instead of the stipulated 28 days, to receive funds for a cocoa road project after raising a certificate.

This comes after Abass Nurudeen of the NDC claimed that Chairman Wontumi’s account was frozen due to receiving contract money on January 8, despite the Chief of Staff’s directive to halt payments.

However, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese disputed this narrative, stating that Chairman Wontumi had successfully completed the road project but never received mobilization funds. He emphasized that it took Chairman Wontumi three years to receive funds after raising a certificate, despite the fact that it was his government that was in power.

Tikese also revealed that around 100 other contractors received funds around the same time, suggesting that Chairman Wontumi was treated unfairly.

Meanwhile, UK- Based Lawyer, Stanley has challenged the NDC to publish a full list of contractors who received payments on January 8, 2025, the same day Chairman Wontumi’s company, Hallmark Civil Engineering, was paid for the cocoa roads project. Lawyer Stanley argued that it is unfair to single out Chairman Wontumi when over 100 contractors, including those affiliated with the NDC, received payments. He questioned the logic behind delaying payments to contractors, citing the depreciation of the cedi against the dollar as an example.

Lawyer Stanley put his professional reputation on the line and asked, “Why is Chairman Wontumi the only person whose account has been frozen for receiving payment for a project he had successfully and genuinely executed?” This challenge comes after the NDC disclosed that Wontumi’s company received payment on January 8 for a cocoa roads project, resulting in controversy surrounding the circumstances of the payment.
