You Stole Akufo-Addo’s ‘Agyapadie’ Plan, Turned It Into GoldBod- Wontumi Tells Mahama

The Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has accused President Mahama of “stealing” former President Akufo-Addo’s ‘Agyapadie’ Royalties idea and operating it under GoldBod.

Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi narrated that after President Mahama led the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to castigate former president Akufo-Addo over ‘Agyapadie’, they have now realized how beneficial it is and implemented the policy.

Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show, Chairman Wontumi stated that “when Akufo-Addo intended to introduce the Agyapa royalties, they vehemently opposed it. But today they have turned the same policy into GoldBod”.

The government of former President Akufo-Addo intended to roll out the Agyapa Mineral Royalty describing the arrangement as the best deal for Ghana’s gold.

The then government, had plans of listing Agyapa Royalty Company in London as the first royalty company of that nature in Africa.

President Akufo-Addo’s government bemoaned the situation where a country like Ghana that had mined gold since the 15th century with the Portuguese could not boast of any international listed company either in gold or in cocoa.
