Where Are Our Streetlights? – Amasaman Assembly Member Questions Regional Minister

The Assembly Member for Amasaman, Love Alister, has called on the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, to fulfill her promise to fix the streetlights in the area.

Love Alister made the appeal following the confirmation of President John Dramani Mahama’s nominee, John Desmond Sowah Nai, as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga West Municipal Assembly.

Speaking to the media after the confirmation, Alister said:

“We gave 100 percent of votes to confirm the President’s nominee. Now we expect the Regional Minister to remind President Mahama that we need development in return. The streetlights are very important to our community’s safety and progress.”

The Assembly Member also urged the newly confirmed MCE to be mindful of his leadership, cautioning him against three things.

“I want to advise the MCE to watch out for gossipers, praise singers, and, above all, to maintain a character that respects everyone,” Alister added.

All 25 Assembly Members present voted YES to confirm the President’s nominee, reflecting a unanimous endorsement.

In response, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, assured the Assembly Members and residents that the promised streetlights would be installed soon.

“I want to thank you for confirming the President’s nominee. I assure you that we will fix the streetlights as soon as possible,” the Minister stated.

The confirmation ceremony, held at the Ga West Municipal Assembly, marked a significant milestone as local leaders continue to push for improved infrastructure and development in their communities.
