Dr. Ishaq Kyei Brobbey, a Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), has expressed strong opposition to John Boadu’s potential bid for the National Chairman position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Dr. Ishaq, Boadu’s leadership was partly responsible for the party’s poor performance in the 2020 elections.

“The 2020 elections were a near-loss for the NPP. We had 169 parliamentary seats, but after four years, we were left with 137. This is a significant decline, and someone must be held accountable,” Dr. Ishaq stated.

Dr. Ishaq accused Boadu of taking credit for the party’s successes, particularly in the 2020 elections, despite not contributing significantly to those efforts.

“Dr. Bawumia played a vital role in the 2020 elections, but Boadu took credit for it. This is unacceptable, and it shows that Boadu is more interested in self-promotion than in serving the party,” Dr. Ishaq claimed.

Furthermore, Dr. Ishaq questioned Boadu’s decision to withhold the report of a committee set up to investigate the party’s poor performance in the 2020 elections. “Why did Boadu withhold the report for so long?” Dr. Ishaq asked.

“What was he hiding? The party deserves transparency and accountability, and Boadu’s actions fall short of those expectations.”

Dr. Ishaq also pointed out that the party lost over 800,000 votes in the 2020 elections, a significant decline from previous elections. “This is a clear indication that something went wrong under Boadu’s leadership. We cannot afford to have him lead the party again,” Dr. Ishaq stressed.

In conclusion, Dr. Ishaq emphasized that the NPP needs a new leader who can bring fresh ideas and a new vision to the party. “John Boadu has had his chance, and he failed. It’s time for someone else to take the reins and lead the party to victory.” Dr. Ishaq noted.

Instead of seeking the National Chairman position, Dr. Ishaq recommended that Boadu focus on reclaiming the Assin Central parliamentary seat, which was lost when Kennedy Agyapong left.

“This is a more suitable role for Boadu, ” Dr. Ishaq said.
