Anas Exposé: Some Ghanaians Slam Judiciary After Kwesi Nyantakyi’s Discharge

A section of the public have criticized the judiciary in Ghana following the Accra High Court’s ruling to discharge former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The discharge came after investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas refused to testify without his mask.

Some individuals expressed outrage over the court’s decision, questioning why an investigative journalist would be compelled to unmask while testifying, potentially endangering his life.

They alleged that the judicial system, having been a victim of Anas’ investigations, are now seeking revenge by undermining his credibility with this ruling.

On the other hand, some people were excited for Nyantakyi, who was discharged by the court after a five-year legal battle.

According to reports, the Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Marie-Louise Simmons, discharged Kwesi Nyantakyi and Abdulai Alhassan, former Northern Regional FA chairman, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, due to insufficient evidence.

A Court of Appeal ruling on January 30 stated that Anas, the state’s last witness, would only be allowed to testify without his mask.

The discharge marks the end of Nyantakyi’s five-year trial, which began after he was captured in a documentary allegedly engaging in corrupt and influence-peddling activities.
