A “Foolish Akan” Can’t Lead NPP: Traders Against Bawumia’s 2028 Presidential Ambition Told

The New Patriotic Party cannot be led by a flagbearer who is a “foolish Akan” in 2028, a famous media presenter has replied some Concerned Traders who have raised issues with the potential candidacy of Bawumia.

Daasebre Agyei Dwamena, a vocal TV and Radio presenter with Movement TV and Wontumi Radio, stated that the current executives of the NPP should stand firm and stop such groups from speaking against the presidential ambition of Bawumia.

He was however doubtful the national executives would act accordingly.

“If the delegate system was not effective and we had allowed more people to vote to elect our executives, some of our executives would have stood firm”.

“Most of them got sponsorship from some people so they are unable to speak out when things are going wrong”, he said.

A group calling itself the Concerned Traders of the NPP in Kumasi has strongly objected to the potential candidacy of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2028 general elections.

According to the group, the party’s choice of Dr Bawumia as the NPP’s presidential candidate in the 2024 election was a “wrong decision,” noting that it was responsible for the party’s historic defeat.

But Daasebre responded to their comments by stating that “we don’t form a political party with fools”.

He stated that the NPP can’t be led by “an Akan who is a fool”.
