Former Nigerian striker Yakubu Ayegbeni has named Nwankwo Kanu, Samuel Eto’o and George Weah as his three best African footballers of all time.
Speaking on the Club House Podcast, Yakubu placed Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu at the top of his list, ahead of Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o and Liberia icon George Weah.
Yakubu highlighted Kanu’s exceptional qualities and his ability to perform at the highest level.
“Kanu is my number one all-time African player,” he said.
The former Premier League striker ranked Samuel Eto’o second, praising the Cameroonian for his leadership, versatility and goalscoring ability.
“He is one of the best African players. He is a leader and he can play different positions,” Yakubu said.
Eto’o enjoyed a glittering career, winning the UEFA Champions League with both Barcelona and Inter Milan.
At number three, Yakubu selected George Weah, who remains the only African player to have won the Ballon d’Or.
“George Weah is one of the best African players. He was so special and so strong,” Yakubu added.
