Residents of Kaneshie-Abossey Okai, near the Obetsebi Lamptey Roundabout in Accra, are appealing to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to urgently fix a leaking water pipe that has reportedly been flowing continuously for more than three months.
According to the residents, the persistent leakage is wasting large quantities of treated water and creating difficulties for pedestrians and motorists who use the affected stretch.
They say the issue has already been reported to the Ghana Water Company, with officials visiting the area to assess the situation.
The residents claim officials subsequently excavated part of the road to gain access to the damaged pipe but left without completing the repair works.
They say the situation has since been left unattended, allowing water to continue flowing while the excavated portion of the road remains a hazard to road users.
According to them, the affected section has become a potential danger zone, particularly for pedestrians and motorists who are forced to navigate around the damaged portion.
The residents are therefore calling on the Ghana Water Company and the government to intervene immediately to repair the damaged pipe and restore the affected section of the road.
They are also urging the authorities to take steps to prevent the continued wastage of treated water, particularly at a time when some communities continue to face challenges with water supply.
