
The Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region has cleared 34 aspirants to contest the party’s regional executive elections, scheduled for August 16, 2026.
According to the Chairperson of the Elections Committee in the region, Madam Rita Talata Asobayire, 35 aspirants filed for nomination.
However, during the vetting process, one aspirant, Adwoa Adomtwumwaa Boadi, who was contesting for the position of Regional General Secretary, withdrew.
She assured the public that the vetting process was peaceful and that all qualified candidates had pledged to run a clean campaign aimed at uniting the party and re-energizing its base.
She also urged all aspirants to avoid insults, and called on delegates to vote for their preferred candidates based on competence and loyalty.
Madam Asobayire said all measures to ensure the elections run smoothly, and that the process is clothed in transparency and fairness, have been put in place, and that the elections will proceed as planned.
The party will convene at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on August 16, 2026, for the Regional Executive Elections.
