Ameyaw Dankwah, a ride-hailing driver, has shared how he unknowingly transported two armed robbery suspects who were later identified as fugitives linked to the killing of a police officer.
In a video shared by ZionFelix on June 25, 2026, the driver recounted that he received a request to pick up passengers from Kwabenya to Pokuase ACP Estates, which he accepted as a routine trip.
According to him, the journey started normally, with two male passengers on board. Midway through the ride, however, the passengers asked him to divert from the route displayed on his ride-hailing app. He said he initially questioned the change but eventually agreed and followed their instructions.
He explained that shortly after taking the new route, he noticed another vehicle behind him flashing its headlights repeatedly. Suspicious of the situation, he pulled over, only to realise he had been stopped by police officers.
“I saw a car following me, flashing its headlights three times, then I pulled over. There were two guys sitting in my car, one beside me and the other behind me. The one behind me got out and started running. One police officer caught the one running and brought him back,” he said.
He added that the situation quickly escalated as armed police officers surrounded his vehicle, arrested the two passengers and took them into custody.
According to him, one of the officers then entered his car and questioned him about how he came to be transporting the suspects. He explained that he was simply working as a ride-hailing driver and had followed the route requested by the passengers.
He further stated that he was instructed to follow the police vehicle to the station. While en route, he engaged one of the officers in conversation to understand what was happening.
He said the officers later informed him that the passengers were part of a robbery gang connected to the killing of a police officer around the Ablekuma filling station and had been on the run before their arrest.
“The police said, ‘Turn and follow this car.’ So I turned. On our way, I asked the policeman sitting beside me, ‘What is the problem?’ Then he said to me, ‘These guys were armed robbers who killed a policeman around Ablekuma filling station. They were three, and one was arrested around the Togo border, and now they have got these two.’ So I followed them to the estate gate, and they parked the car there. They asked me to end the trip and paid me, then I went to my house,” he added.
