“No One Is Bigger Than NPP” — Dr. Fokuo Calls for Discipline in Party

A senior lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University, Dr. Solomon Fokuo, has raised concerns about what he describes as growing self-interest among some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying it is undermining the party’s collective goals.

Speaking in an interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on the Wontumi Morning Show, Dr. Fokuo stressed that the party must remain united as it seeks to recapture power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He referenced a recent comment by former presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, who reportedly said, “If the NPP dares me, I will spill the beans.”

According to Dr. Fokuo, such remarks are inappropriate and should be addressed by the appropriate party leadership.

“No individual is bigger than the NPP, not even the flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; he is not above the party,” he stated.

He further urged party members to respect the authority of leadership, including the General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, and to avoid internal divisions.

“NPP members need to respect the authority and directives of the party leadership,” he added.

Dr. Fokuo also advised party communicators to focus on promoting the party’s achievements and future plans rather than engaging in attacks on fellow members during media discussions.

“In a political party, your political opponent is not supposed to be your friend, but you may still be on the same ship,” he said, emphasizing the need for discipline and strategic communication.

He concluded by calling for unity and collective effort within the party as it prepares for future elections.
