2026 WC: We Can Beat Any Top Team – Ghana Forward Antoine Semenyo

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has expressed a strong belief that the Black Stars are capable of matching and defeating any opposition at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in an interview with FIFA, the Manchester City striker said his focus is on competing at the highest level and proving Ghana’s quality on the global stage.

“It will just feel normal. I don’t think I’ll feel anything. I think if anything, I’ll just want to win and prove that we can compete with the top nations,” he said.

“I don’t think it changes anything for me, but I know that playing against my friends, I want to prove my point. I want to show that we are a top nation, we can play together, and we can beat all the top teams,” Semenyo added.

Ghana, four-time African champions, will be making their fifth World Cup appearance when the tournament kicks off in North America this summer. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Their campaign begins on June 17 against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto, before facing England at the Boston Stadium on June 23. They will wrap up their group stage fixtures against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 27.

After successive group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022, Ghana will be aiming to finally progress beyond the first round and make a deeper run in the tournament.
