Former Bantama Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has intensified his quest to lead the Ashanti Regional branch of the opposition New Patriotic Party, after formally announcing his chairmanship bid to constituency executives across the Adansi and Obuasi enclave.
Dr. Kokofu took his campaign message to executives of Obuasi West, Obuasi East, Akrofuom, New Edubiase, Adansi Asokwa, and Fomena constituencies, where he delivered a passionate call for unity, grassroots mobilization, and renewed political energy ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Addressing party executives, the seasoned politician praised the resilience and sacrifices of constituency leaders who, according to him, have kept the party alive and active despite recent political challenges.
He described the executives as the “backbone of the NPP” and applauded their loyalty, dedication, and unwavering commitment to sustaining the party’s structures at the grassroots level.
Dr. Kokofu used the occasion to rally support for the 2028 presidential ambition of Mahamudu Bawumia, urging party faithful to remain united and focused on impending victory in 2028.
He called for peaceful, issue-based internal campaigns as the party prepares for its upcoming elections.
The former Bantama MP further highlighted his ability to reposition the Ashanti Region as the electoral fortress of the NPP, promising what he described as “strategic and tactical measures” to energize the party base and deliver massive votes for both Dr. Bawumia and the NPP in 2028.
Highlighting his political journey from constituency chairman to Member of Parliament, Dr. Kokofu pointed to his experience in party organization, communication, grassroots engagement, and national politics as key strengths that make him the right person to lead the Ashanti Region at this critical moment.
