Black Stars To Discover AFCON 2027 Qualifier Opponents On May 19

Ghana will learn their opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when the draw is held on May 19, 2026, following confirmation of the schedule by CAF.

The qualification campaign will run from September 2026 to March 2027, with 48 teams drawn into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group will progress to the tournament.

The 2027 AFCON finals are scheduled for June 19 to July 17 and will be hosted across three East African countries, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, marking a historic joint hosting arrangement.

For Ghana, the qualifiers offer a chance to return to the continental stage after missing out on the last edition in Morocco. The Black Stars will be aiming to secure qualification and reassert their status among Africa’s top teams.

Ghana is a four-time African champion, but has not lifted the trophy since 1982, adding further motivation as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
