A man in his late thirties, identified as Kofi and popularly known as “Oga,” has reportedly severed his own genital organ in an incident at Aworowa in the Bono East Region.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, April 18, 2026, has left residents shocked, with the motive behind the act still unclear.
Family members allege that Kofi was heavily intoxicated at the time, noting that he is known to behave unusually whenever he consumes alcohol. Reports further indicate that he claimed he was influenced by spiritual forces before using a knife to carry out the act.
The Assemblyman for the area, Bismarck Yeboah, confirmed the incident, stating that Kofi is unmarried, unemployed, and has no children.
Medical personnel have since stitched the injury, but doctors have recommended that he be transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for specialised care.
However, due to financial constraints, the family has not yet been able to facilitate his transfer for further treatment.
